From the begininning, Chris Davies' approach to design has been intellectual as well as technical, inspired and informed by the knowledge he has acquired in other fields.

At the time Chris Davies began his studies in fashion at Parsons and Jewellery Design at FIT, he had already acquired a B.A. in Religious Studies from Vassar and a Masters' Degree in Indian Philosophy in the Midwest.

With Haute Couture dressmaking, goldsmithing and a extensive knowledge of art and ancient history at his fingertips, Davies has built a cross disciplinary studio practice with a distinctive visual language that is immediately recognizable.

In addition to his design work, Davies lectures on the historical use of gems in Ancient and early Modern medicine and healing practices, a natural educator and storyteller he joyfully shares his knowledge of this history of gems, craftsmanship and the art and culture that inspires him.

In addition to being an accomplished ayurvedic cook and avid traveller, he has mainteined a daily meditation, youga and dance practice since high school. Body awareness, nature, health and movement are at the heart of his creativity.

Davies was raised in the Hollywood Hills by an artist mother and an entrepreneur father, two elegant grandmothers, more like Antunie Mames, inspired a love for beauty and a deep curiosity about life.

Davies maintains his studio and workshop in midtown Manhattan where his jewels are ethically produced. He has been collected by some of the most active members in the contemporary art space. His work is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
