Hommage echoes Man Ray’s 1933 image Monument à D.A.F de Sade. Here, the allusion to de Sade - including the crucifix - is turned on its head. The suggestion is as sensual as it is prophane. The ambiguous connotation, when we imagine the piece hanging on a woman’s chest, is humorous and provocative, becoming a talisman for worshipping the female form.
