PAD London 2016 x Louisa Guinness Gallery: The Curator's Room | The Musuem of Artists' Jewellery | Stand B4

Louisa Guinness Gallery is pleased to announce ‘The Museum of Artists’ Jewellery; The Curator’s Office’ a new immersive installation for the Pavilion of Art & Design London (PAD), Berkeley Square.

Featuring work by gallery artists Ron Arad, Anish Kapoor, Claude Lalanne and Nic Fiddian Green as well as new work by Christopher Thompson Royds, Blanca Munoz, Mia Fonssagrives Solow, Stephen Cox and Emily Young, the installation will create in minute detail the world and inner sanctum of a fictional curator of artists’ jewellery. Comfortable but institutional, functional but worn, the curator’s favourite works and recent acquisitions will be displayed in cases around the room. The rest of the collection will be found tucked away in meticulously labelled and lined archive drawers around the room.

Artist’s Jewellery remains, for many, a collection of disparate projects. This installation hopes to nurture a holistic view of the genre. Inviting the viewer to journey into the expert’s lair, Louisa Guinness Gallery will show, in a new and compelling way the depth and bredth of the area – the extent of artists who have used wearable art as medium of artistic expression and their successes in the medium.

ABOUT THE GALLERY

Louisa Guinness Gallery works with today’s leading sculptors and painters to create jewellery as well as collecting and dealing in works by master artists. In 2013 the gallery moved to a new space at 45 Conduit Street. This space remains the first ever gallery space dedicated exclusively to exhibiting artists jewels. It houses a rotating exhibition programme, showing works by gallery artists such as Anish Kapoor, Sophia Vari, Claude La- lanne and Mariko Mori as well as pieces by 20th century masters such as Picasso, Calder, Man Ray and Fontana.

The gallery opened in May 2003 with its inaugural exhibition ‘Past and Present; Jewellery by 20th Century Artists’. With this show Louisa Guinness departed from her original focus on artist-made furniture into the world of artist’s jewels. Since then she has worked on over 18 sep- arate projects with leading contemporary artists.

Each new work is published in a small edition to the highest standard. All works are made by hand either in London’s famous Hatton Garden, or in the artist’s studio, and each piece is signed and numbered. At once jewellery and mini-sculpture, each piece holds an important place in the artists’ wider body of work.
